Keep your existing telephone numbers

When switching to Voxcom VoIP, you do not need to change your existing telephone numbers. The Voxcom network has full local number porting (LNP) capability. This removes the cost and hassle associated with changing telephone numbers and allows you to immediately switch from fixed lines to Voice over IP.

Keep your existing telephone system

Switching to VoIP does not mean throwing away your existing phone system. Voxcom VoIP can integrate seamlessly with your existing equipment and even enable new features in it. This extends the life of your telephone system while VoIP-enabling your business to take advantage of new technology.
Cutting costs and enabling advanced business functionality

Voice over IP (VoIP) is a seriously exciting new technology. It allows for the transmission of voice services without using the traditional (monopoly owned) telecommunications infrastructure. This helps your business cut costs and enable advanced functionality that would otherwise not be possible or too expensive to implement over traditional infrastructure.

Cutting costs

  • Free calls between sites. Voice over IP allows for free calls between all of your VoIP enabled sites. This means that if for example you have a Sydney head office with Melbourne and Brisbane branch offices, all the calls between these offices are free. This alone has saved some of our clients many thousands of dollars per month on their telecommunications spend.
  • Heavily reduced line rental charges. Because Voice over IP allows Voxcom to bypass the traditional, costly telecommunications infrastructure, we can offer significantly discounted line rentals.
  • Heavily reduced call rates. Again because traditional telecommunications infrastructure is bypassed and your calls are connected directly via Voxcom infrastructure, we can offer you much lower call rates and save you up to 40% compared to your current phone bill.
  • Bundling. Data services such as VPN or Internet access can be bundled with our VoIP service. By bundling other data services in conjunction with VoIP, we can offer huge discounts compared to buying these separately.
  • Flexible provisioning. Traditional digital fixed lines (also known as ISDN) come in blocks of only two or ten lines. This means that if you need 7 voice lines, you still have to pay or 8 or 10. The flexibility of VoIP means that you will only ever pay for the exact number of lines you need while still having all the business benefits of digital voice lines.

Enabling advanced functionality

  • Telecommuting. VoIP allows staff who are working from home, a hotel room or client site to remain connected to your office phone system seamlessly and easily. This ensures staff are always contactable and part of your office network, regardless of their location.
  • Unified messaging. Unified messaging allows you to get all of your messages in one place regardless of whether the message is an email, voicemail or fax. Moreover all these messages can get you regardless of whether you are in the office or on the road. No more playing phone tag or missing an important fax just because you are out of the office.
  • Find me, follow me. Are your customers frustrated by calling multiple numbers when trying to contact you? They may try your office phone and mobile phone only receive a voicemail message each time. Find me, follow me is a feature which allows Voxcom’s VoIP network to intelligently find you regardless of your location. This gives you the flexibility of advertising a single contact phone number to your customers and using the Voxcom VoIP network to transfer the call based on predefined rules such as; time of day, day of week or other criteria. For example you may want calls to your office number to automatically transfer to your mobile phone after 10 seconds of unanswered ringing. Then if your mobile phone is not answered, you may want the call automatically transferred to your personal assistant. After hours or on public holidays you may wish to have the call transferred immediately to voicemail or to an external answering service. Find me, follow me gives your business this flexibility.
  • Unified extension numbering across offices. Having multiple offices connected to Voxcom’s VoIP network allows you to have a unified extension numbering scheme. Staff in different offices can contact each other via their three (or four) digit internal extension number rather than their full external phone number. This simplifies interoffice dialling and unifies your business’s phone systems regardless of whether they are across the road or across Australia.
  • Integration with computer applications. VoIP enables your phone system to communicate with third party applications such as CRM or address books. This allows you to dial telephone numbers directly from your computer address book or have incoming calls matched against customer records which are automatically pulled up.
  • Easier Management. Voxcom’s VoIP services are managed directly by our network operations centre. This means that service modifications (for example adding or removing line hunt, enabling or disabling caller ID) can be actioned instantly rather than waiting for days or weeks for your telco to either send a technician out or “get back to you”.

A warning about VoIP

VoIP, like any new technology, can be implemented correctly or poorly. Unfortunately some telecommunications providers haven given VoIP a bad name by using the public Internet to transmit VoIP traffic. Because the Internet is a public network, and not under the control of the VoIP provider, when congestion occurs on the Internet, voice quality automatically deteriorates as a result. This can result in audio gaps, echo and jitter on telephone calls. In addition to poor audio quality, using the public Internet for voice calls opens up serious security vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities potentially allow hackers to tap your telephone calls, hijack your phone system and make practically unlimited calls at your expense. Using the public Internet for VoIP carriage offers no guarantees of quality or security and as such is not appropriate for business use.

A Better Way to Deliver VoIP

Seeing the shortcomings in the offerings of most telecommunications providers, Voxom has used voice over IP technology to create a suite of services specifically designed with business customers in mind. Voxcom’s VoIP services do NOT use the public Internet. By contrast, Voxcom purpose built a private VoIP network specifically designed for the carriage of voice calls. This ensures that Voxcom VoIP telephone calls have guaranteed quality and security.

Importantly with Voxcom’s VoIP service you do not need to change your existing telephone numbers or equipment. Your existing telephone numbers can be ported to the Voxcom VoIP network and your existing investment in telephone equipment is protected. This is one of the reasons why switching to Voxcom VoIP is completely risk free.

Industry Insider Secret 3

Many VoIP providers "piggyback" on the public Internet to handle phone calls. They might claim that running voice calls over the public Internet will provide adequate audio quality. Some even claim to offer quality of service (QoS) over the public Internet. These claims are quite simply untrue. While certain hardware bundled with their VoIP services may have QoS capabilities, without an underlying QoS capable network, it is simply not possible to control quality. The public Internet is not a QoS capable network. Voxcom carry voice calls strictly over it’s own private VoIP network. Because we have full end-to-end control of our private VoIP network, we can guarantee the quality and security of your voice calls.

Industry Insider Secret 4

Some Voice over IP providers do not have fully compliant emergency 000 systems. This means that when you make a 000 call, emergency services are not able to correctly identify your address, based on the phone number you are calling from. The Voxcom VoIP network has full compliance with the emergency 000 system ensuring your location will be immediately displayed to the operator in the event of an emergency 000 call.
